Pilsener, sometimes abbreviated as Pils, is a style of beer developed in the city of Plzeň (Pilsen in the German language) in the Bohemia region of the Czech Republic.
Lager is the term used to refer to beers that undergo low-temperature fermentation, using yeast of the Saccharomyces carlsbergensis strain, which prefers low fermentation temperatures (around 10°C) and settles to the bottom of the vessel during the process (hence the term "low fermentation").
