In 1870, Francesc Majentí i Casals, "el Xec", opened a shop in the house under the Pont Nou. He was a shoemaker. During the time of the Franco-Prussian war, the French, who were quite hungry in their country, came to Camprodon to buy food. "El Xec" sold them all the sausages, sausages and other products from the pigs he killed for his own consumption, and from this fact he continued to slaughter pigs. Thus began one of the most traditional sausage establishments in the town. From those dates and without interruption, until today, his descendants continue the tradition that Grandfather Xec began more than one hundred and twenty-five years ago.
