What do BODEGAS VIAZÁLEZ do?

Alongside his brothers, Jorge and Juan, Carlos Álvarez-Hevia has dedicated all his effort and passion to the vineyards located in the León region of El Bierzo.

The first vineyard is situated on the estate 'Los Balcones', considered a gem of less than 45 years old, on the slope of the Montes de Salas de Barrios. Its altitude of 800 meters distinguishes it from all the vineyards in the area. The second is located in Castro de la Ventosa, with centennial Mencía vineyards in the heart of the Bercian hoya, while the third is in the municipality of Ponferrada, specifically in Otero.

Bodegas Viazález currently has two red wines made from Mencía grapes, Viazález and HeGo, and one white wine, Denuedo, made from Godello grapes. Each one has a distinct character, resulting from the dedication and love put into every detail, from the vine to the glass.

Bodegas Viazález is the perfect combination of heart and reason. The heart chose a vineyard at 800 meters high with views of the Sierra de los Ancares, while reason opted for the best vitivinicultural techniques to treat its Mencía grapes.

The result is a red wine with a ruby color, clean and medium-high layer. Its tasting notes reveal an intense and complex wine in the nose, with notes of black fruit, balsamic, pepper, and light toasted and mineral notes.

In the mouth, the entry is sweet and pleasant, with a medium volume, length, and finish.

Mature, soft tannins, and a good balance thanks to an acidity that maintains the wine's tension. The notes of black fruit and balsamic intensify in the aftertaste, accompanied by a more marked mineral character.

HeGo, on the other hand, is a subtle and complex wine with a ruby color, high layer, clean, and shiny. In the nose, the wine is intense and complex, with varietal aromas of black fruit, light floral notes, spicy notes of pepper and clove, balsamic recollections, and a marked mineral character.

In the mouth, the entry is sweet. The wine presents itself as wide and balanced, with mature tannins and good acidity.

The different textures in the mouth give it great depth and length, which, along with its persistence in the mouth, make it a wine with a long finish. The notes of black fruit, light cocoa, clove, and a final marked by a deep minerality reappear.
